Poland

So all the Chilean miners were rescued, they look great.  In fact, so great that the Motherland of Poland is now telling it's citizens on the news that the whole thing is fiction.

That's right, all that man power and media, Polish news is reporting they look too good to have been that far down in the ground for so long.

As my husband would say, "Odurzeni wieśniacy".

Darfur

"It doesn't matter what I believe, because obviously I'm an actor," Clooney humbly told the Today Show. "The Secretary of State said it's a ticking time bomb. The CIA said this is the next genocide if we're not careful – it is the biggest risk. The president has said as much."

Clooney is lending his star power to try to raise as much awareness to this issue as he can. "Everyone acknowledges that this is what is going to take place if someone doesn't moderate and mediate. … I'm just trying to say it as loud as possible."

George is still hopeful that there's a chance to stop it before it gets out of control. "I think it can be stopped," he said. "We stopped [the Darfur conflict] in 2005 with diplomacy. We didn't stop it with soldiers. So, yes, if we get involved now, we have a shot."

Amen.

Ohio Bullies

1 Ohio school, 4 bullied teens dead at own hand

The 16-year-old's last words, scribbled in English and her native Croatian, told of her daily torment at Mentor High School, where students mocked her accent, taunted her with insults like "Slutty Jana" and threw food at her.

It was the fourth time in little more than two years that a bullied high school student in this small Cleveland suburb on Lake Erie died at his or her own hand - three suicides, one overdose of antidepressants. One was bullied for being gay, another for having a learning disability, another for being a boy who happened to like wearing pink.

Now two families - including the Vidovics - are suing the school district, claiming their children were bullied to death and the school did nothing to stop it. The lawsuits come after a national spate of high-profile suicides by gay teens and others, and during a time of national soul-searching about what can be done to stop it.

Suzana Vidovic found her sister's body hanging over the front lawn. The family watched, she said, as the girls who had tormented Sladjana for months walked up to the casket - and laughed. "They were laughing at the way she looked," Suzana says, crying. "Even though she died."

Vidovic's parents say they begged the school to intervene many times. They say the school promised to take care of her. When the family tried to retrieve records about their reports of bullying, school officials told them the records were destroyed during a switch to computers. (BULLSHIT!!!!)

Where the hell is the empathy? What the hell is wrong with these kids? Oh yeah, that's right the parents....what about the parents of the bullies? I still hate Tweens.

Deputies: Drug-Dealing Granny Busted - Orlando News Story - WKMG Orlando

Deputies: Drug-Dealing Granny Busted - Orlando News Story - WKMG Orlando:

"Children's toys and playful ornaments greet guests outside the house, but deputies said what was inside Taylor's home is serious business. Drug agents said they found a 'veritable cornucopia of prescription pills,' pot and grow lights. Agents said Taylor had more than 450 pain pills, including Oxycodone and soma. They said she bought them from other elderly people and sold them for cash."

Some suspect her son had something to do with it.

Shocking I know. I wonder if he is going to let his mom go down for all of it?

Police Accuse 2 Moms Of Selling Crack - News Story - KOAT Albuquerque

Police Accuse 2 Moms Of Selling Crack - News Story - KOAT Albuquerque:

learned the mothers are now accused of selling crack out of the same house where their kids live.

"According to a criminal complaint, police recently sent an informant into the house and 'Rosie ... retrieved about 5 to 10 crack rocks ... and gave him a $20 rock.'
In August, police said they found 11 children living in the same house with soiled clothes, little to no food, and none had been registered for school.

Two months before, city inspectors found the same family with 17 kids at the time living in horrible conditions in a different house. Last week, police finally charged Rosie and Bonnie Webb with child abuse."

Student Says He Was Injured While Trying To Stop Bully - Denver News Story - KMGH Denver

Student Says He Was Injured While Trying To Stop Bully - Denver News Story - KMGH Denver

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The mother of an elementary school student feels her son is the victim of a crime after he tried to stop a bully at his school.
Eleven-year-old Matthew is now wearing a boot after he says a bully threw him to ground and broke his leg.

“If the school had taken other actions, I probably wouldn’t have sought this,” said Patty Biscardi, Matthew’s mother.

Is this the new media trend?

Hope's Suicide

How a cell phone picture led to girl's suicide October 07, 2010

This all started in the spring of 2009 during the last week of school. Friends and family say Hope had "sexted" a picture of her breasts to her boyfriend. Another girl from school, they say, got her hands on the photo and sent it to students at six different schools in the area.

At age 13, Hope Witsell struggled in middle school. Not because her class work at Shields Middle School in Ruskin, Florida, was challenging, but because Hope was being bullied.

She had used her favorite scarves to hang herself from her canopy bed.

This is why I taught my son about the Internet early. I taught him what was right, what was wrong and most importantly he cannot hide anything from me because everything is traced. He isn't allowed to chat, he would rather go to the movie and tv sites I found and watch that than bash someone at school. I know it might happen in the future but I believe in a healthy dose of fear is good for him early.

Now, every kid that said anything bad about her, that can be tracked, should be brought in and put through a really graphic training about suicide and bullying. I hate tweens and parents of tweens that don't teach empathy.
