Don't we have more important things to focus on?

"Lt. Chuck Williams with the Phoenix Police Department is the officer who showed up at Kristi’s house on the day of her sale. He’s also behind the effort to keep his district sign-free. He says the dismissal of Kristi’s ticket by the judge doesn’t discourage him. “We’ll keep fighting the fight and just because we don’t win in the courtroom doesn’t mean we’re not winning on the street,” says Lt. Williams.

So, far this year, Lt. Williams has handed out 250 warnings and ten citations to people who post signs on city property. He says although he wants to keep the city sign-free he doesn’t like handing out tickets—especially in this economy. In fact, he even called one violator—who paid almost $300 for posting signs--- to apologize for giving him a ticket. “He was the first one I cited and I wanted to see how it was for him in court. I said ‘Hey, I want to apologize for citing you. And he told me you’re just doing your job. Sorry it’ll never happen again’. He knew he could’ve gotten fined $1500.”
The fine for posting or placing signs (even on the ground) on city property is $250 per sign with a maximum of $2500." azcentral.com blogs - The Garage Sale Gal - LyndaHammond - Lynda Hammond, the Garage Sale Gal: Ticket Troubles Part II:

I'm sure he feels really bad.
